Semi Husked Coconut

A semi-husked coconut is a mature coconut where the bulk of the fibrous outer husk (coir) has been removed, but a protective layer remains around the "eyes" (germination points) and the main body of the nut.

The Manufacturing Process:

  • Selection: Only robust, fully mature coconuts (typically harvested after 11-12 months) are selected to guarantee firm white meat and maximum coconut water volume.

  • De-husking: The thick outer coir is expertly stripped away mechanically or manually, leaving a specific portion of the husk intact. This remaining husk acts as a natural cushion.

  • Cleaning and Inspection: The remaining shell is cleaned of loose fibers, and each nut is inspected to ensure integrity before packing.

Specification and Typical Use Cases

Appearance: Cleaned shell with a defined portion of fibrous brown husk remaining.

  • Grades: Typically supplied by weight or circumference to meet specific buyer requirements (e.g., Grade A: 500-600g; Grade B: 600g+).

    • Fresh Market Sale: Sold directly to consumers.

    • Coconut Milk/Cream Production: Processed into industrial ingredients.

    • Desiccated Coconut Production: Used as the raw kernel source.
